Posthumous Silence ist bereits das 5. Studioalbum der Hamburger Band. Während die ersten beiden Alben deutlich dem Neo Prog zugeordnet werden konnte, haben sie sich seit Artificial Paradise von ihren Neo Prog Wurzeln entfernt. Jedoch Sylvan nun in den Progressiven Metal zu schieben, nur weil manche Passagen dieser CD ein wenig härter ausgefallen sind, halte ich für falsch. Dazu findet man noch zu viele ruhige und symphonische Elemente.

Posthumous Silence ist ein Konzeptalbum und handelt von einem Mädchen das den Freitod gewählt hat. Die verschiedenen Emotionen, wie Traurigkeit und Verzweiflung, welche man durchlebt bevor man diesen Schritt wagt, haben Sylvan musikalisch hervorragend umgesetzt.

Besonders erwähnenswert ist auch das einbringen eines Cellos und des Chors, welches der Musik noch eine besondere Note verleiht.

Auch Live, ich habe sie beim 9. Eclipsed Festival gesehen und gehört, haben sie die Musik tadellos umgesetzt.

Immer wieder wenn ich dieses Album höre laufen mir Gänsehautschauer über den Rücken, so toll und ergreifend ist dieses Meisterwerk!!!

Posthumous Silence is the 5^th Studio album of the Band from Hamburg / Germany. The first two albums could have been categorized as Neo Prog, but with the album Artificial Paradise they’ve changed their music style a little toward Art Rock.

But to categorize them as Progressive Metal, since on some passages the music is a little heavy is to my opinion wrong. The music of Sylvan is still calm and very symphonic most of the time.

Posthumous Silence is a concept ional peace of music and it’s about the suicide of a little girl. By listening to the music, you can fell the sadness and desperation the little girl must have been through before making such a decision.

Also the use of a cello, played by Stefanie Richter and the choir gives the music a very special touch.

It’s impossible to name a song out of this bundle, every song is very good and you should listen so the whole album.

I’ve seen Sylvan Live at the 9^th Eclipsed Festival and them where tremendously good.

Every time I listen to this Masterpiece, there are shivers running down my spine, because the music is great and very moving!!!

Si Partie I ist soviel ich weiß das 4. Studioalbum von Nemo. Ihre Musik in eine Schublade zu packen ist so gut wie unmöglich, man findet Elemente aus dem Neo Prog, Retro Prog und auch ein wenig Progressive Metal, sowie auch ein wenig aus dem Chanson Bereich.

Bedauerlicherweise kann ich zu den Texten überhaupt nichts schreiben, da ich nicht die französische Sprache beherrsche und weder im Booklet, noch auf deren Webseite eine Übersetzung zur Verfügung gestellt wurde. Nach meiner Meinung fügt sich der französische Gesang allerdings hervorragend in die dargebotene Musik ein.

Musikalisch ist dieses Album sehr spannend und abwechslungsreich aufgebaut. Man bekommt schöne Keyboardklänge und treibende Gitarren zu hören, übrigens wurde auch ein Mellotron eingesetzt. Auch den mehrstimmigen Gesang finde ich hier toll, sowie die Rhythmusfraktion Bass und Schlagzeug.

Jedenfalls macht die Musik auf Si Partie I spaß und ich bin schon auf die Fortsetzung des Albums gespannt, da sie bereits an Si Partie II arbeiten.

Si Partie I is as far as I know the 4th Studio album of Nemo. It’s not easy to categorize the music of them, there are elements of Neo Prog, Retro Prog and Progressive Metal, also some elements out of the French chanson section.

Sorry, but I can’t tell you anything about the lyrics since I’m not familiar with the French language and there are no translations in the booklet, or Website. To my opinion the French vocals fits perfectly to the music.

The Music on this album is very exciting to listen to. You’ll get to hear very nice keyboard playing and very nice guitars, by the way, they also use Mellotron. Also the vocalist and the rhythm fraction are doing a tremendous good job.

Anyhow, I’m enjoying this album very much and I’m excited to read, that Nemo is working already on Si Partie II.

Spring Tidings ist nun das 4. Studioalbum von Poor Genetic Material und schließt nun das Thema über die Jahreszeiten, die anderen Alben waren Summerland, Leap Into Fall und Winter’s Edge.

Die Musik fängt wie ein leises Frühlingserwachen mit leichten Klängen an, um dann mit dem 2. Track Blow-Up mit der Gitarre des Stefan Glomb richtig rockig loszulegen. Auch die Keboards des Philipp Jaehne sind hervorragend. Die charismatische Stimme von Phil Griffiths, welcher auch bei Alias Eye tätig ist, kommt wunderbar bei diesen Stücken zur Geltung.

Watercolours ist eins von den beiden längeren Stücken, es hat immerhin eine Spielzeit von 9:30 min., in der es längere Instrumentalpassagen gibt. Die Keyboardpassagen ergänzen sich prima mit der Gitarre und dem Gesang. Man hat diesen Track auch nicht unnötig in die Länge gezogen und darauf geachtet das es für den Hörer nicht langweilig wird.

La Ville Qui N’existait Pas ist der 2. Longtrack von 10:29 min. Laufzeit. Auch hier findet man neben dem Gesang ausgiebige Instrumentalpassagen, die vor Ideenreichtum nur so strotzen.

Erwähnenswert sind auch sicherlich die schönen Bassläufe des Dennis Sturm und das Drumming des neuen Bandmitglieds Dominik Steinbacher.

Wenn der Frühling so schön wäre, wie es das Album ist, dann hätten wir sicherlich nichts zu meckern.

Spring Tidings is the forth studio album of Poor Genetic Material and closes the subject of the times of the year, other albums where Summerland, Leap Into Fall and Winter’s Edge.

The music starts like the awakening of spring with some soft tunes to develope in the 2. Track Blow-Up ina rocking style when Stefan Glomb starts to play his guitar. Also the keyboards of Philipp Jaehne are just marvellous and not to forget the charismatic voice of Phil Griffiths, who is also with the Band Alias Eye.

Watercolours is one of the two Longtracks, it has a playing time of 9:30 min., it has longer instrumental parts in it. This Track does’t get boring, because it has a lot to explore for the listener. The same goes with the second Longtrack La Ville Qui N’existait Pas.

I also should mention the great bass of Dennis Sturm and the drumming by Dominik Steinbacher, who joyned the Band just recently.

If springtime would be that nice like the album is, we would have nothing to complaine about.

Ice wurden im Jahr 2001 von ehemaligen Mitgliedern der Band Maryson gegründet. Für diejenigen unter euch welche es möglicherweise nicht wissen, Maryson hatten 1997 und 1998 bei dem damaligen deutschen Label WMMS 2 CDs heraus gebracht, Master Magician I und Master Magician II On Goes The Quest.

Nun aber zurück zu Ice, ihre Musik ist beeinflusst von Camel, Peter Gabriel zur Genesis Zeit, Pink Floyd besonders bei den Keys und Marillion. Bei dem Album The Saga handelt es sich um ein Konzeptalbum, in der es um eine herannahende Eiszeit geht und nur eine kleine ausgewählte Gruppe die es verhindern kann. Nun im Booklet steht, das Ice eine klassische Story für gut und böse, liebe und hass, Vertrauen und Vertrauensbruch und vor allem Freundschaft ist.

Die einzelnen Etappen haben sie sehr melodisch verpackt. Mal balladesk und mal leicht rockig. Schöne Keyboardteppiche und tolle Gitarrensoli, sowie die sehr ausdrucksstarke Stimme des Sängers machen richtig Spaß. Sehr schön ist z.B. Not Only Love und This Battle, denn hier hat man auch ein wunderschönes Saxophon eingesetzt. Auch Why Me ist besonders erwähnenswert, dieser Song klingt am Ende mit Mundharmonika aus und erzeugt eine besondere Stimmung. Ausfälle, oder einen schlechten Song kann ich nicht benennen und den Kauf des Albums wärmstens empfehlen!

Ice where founded by former members of the Band Maryson in the year 2001. For those people not kowing, Maryson released 2 CDs by the german Label WMMS in the year 1997 and 1998, the CDs titles are Master Magician I and Master Magician II On Goes The Quest.

Okay now back to Ice, their music is influenced by Bands such as Camel, post Peter Gabriel (Genesis), Pink Floyd especially with the keys and Marillion. The Saga is a conceptalbum about a upcomming ice period and only a small group of people from different races can prevend this ice period.

Ice is a classic story of good and bad, love and hate, faith and betrayal, and for all: Friendship. In the context of a chilling and darkening world, the songs on the CD refer to key parts of the story. (The last 2 sentences are directly from the Booklet)

The music is very melodic, there are great keyboards and guitarsoli and the vocalist has a very good expressionable voice, wich makes it a lot of fun to listen to the music. On Not Only Love and This Battle there is also a very nice saxophone. To my opinion there isn’t a bad song and I can recommend this Album to you!

Als ich im Vanden Plas Forum gelesen habe, das es ein Album von Red Circuit erschienen ist, wo Stephan Lill (Vanden Plas) mit dabei, Chity Somapala (ex Avalon) der Sänger und Andy Kuntz (Vanden Plas) Co-Produzent ist, war mir klar dieses Album Trance State haben zu wollen. Markus Teske ist der eigentliche Produzent, wie auch schon bei Vanden Plas und Symphony X. Aufgenommen wurde diese CD im Bazement Studio bei Frankfurt.

Under The Sun fängt mit Keyboard Intro an, jedoch lassen die Gitarren und der Rest nicht lange auf sich warten. Der Song ist schon recht heavy und doch sehr melodisch.

Is It Gold?! ist eine Up-Tempo Nummer mit treibenden Gitarrenrhythmus, Stephan Forte (Adagio) führt das Solo an seiner Gitarre aus.

The Veil kommt nicht ganz so heavy rüber. Stephan Lill (Vanden Plas) ist hier der Sologitarrist.

Where You Are eine der wenigen ruhigen Nummern mit einer schönen Melodieführung im Gesangspart. Hier ist auch deutlich Christine Wolff im Backround zu hören. Schön!

Search For Your Soul ist wieder heavy mit Patrick Rondat beim Solo an der Gitarre.

The Screen kommt recht abwechslungsreich rüber im Aufbau des Songs und gefällt mir fast am besten.

Dieses Album ist ja dem Genre Melodic Progressive Metal zugeordnet worden, meiner Meinung nach liegt die Betonung allerdings eher auf Melodic Metal mit Progressiven Elementen.

As soon as I’ve read on the Vanden Plas Forum that there is a Album out with Chity (ex Avalon) on the vocals, Stephan Lill (Vanden Plas) and Andy Kuntz (Vanden Plas) as the Co-Producer, I knew I had to get this Album from Red Circuit – Trance State. Markus Teske is the Producer of this CD as he also is the Producer of Vanden Plas and Symphony X. This CD has been recorded in the Bazement Studio near Frankfurt, Germany

The music on this album is pretty heavy and still very melodic. On the Track Is It Gold?! Stephan Forte (Adagio) is playing the Solo on his guitar. Stephan Lill (Vanden Plas) is the Sologuitaist on The Veil and Patrick Rondat is playing the Solo with his guitar on Search For Your Soul. Where You Are is a calm song with a nice melodic sound and with Christine Wolff as the Background Singer, very nice!

Trance State is very well produced and the sound is good and it’s enjoyable to listen to it, but still to my opinion it is more Melodic Metal with Progressive Elements in it.

Bei La Tulipe Noire handelt es sich um Musiker die aus Griechenland stammen und ihre Musik lässt sich dem Neo Prog zuordnen. Die Band besteht seit Mitte der 90ziger Jahre. Vor Nostimon Humar sind schon 3 weitere Alben erschienen, wobei *Faded Leaves*, mir besonders gut gefallen hat. Natürlich wollte ich dann ihr neuestes Werk auch haben.

Bei Nostimon Humar handelt es sich um ein Konzept Album das sich Odysseus und seine Abenteuer annimmt, allerdings auf unserer Zeit bezogen. Es wird auf High Tech eingegangen und auch auf das heikle Thema Krieg, wo ich schon beim 4. Track bin. In diesem Song Polyphemus wird auf die Grausamkeiten des Krieges eingegangen und zum Schluss des Liedes sind Livefragmente von Hitler zu hören. In einem Review habe ich gelesen, das eben dieser Schreiber über diesen Teil schockiert war. Ich persönlich denke allerdings man hat diesen Teil mit in den Song eingebaut um ihm noch einen dramatischeren Touch zu verleihen und nicht um uns Deutsche zu schockieren, oder gar zu beleidigen.

Ich möchte nun aber auch nicht auf jeden einzelnen Song eingehen, im Booklet ist man auf die einzelnen Stationen wunderbar erklärend eingegangen. In jedem Song sind Fragmente aus dem New Wave, wie man es von Depeche Mode kennt, mit eingebaut worden und welche sich im Gesamtbild gut einfügen. Auf Solis der einzelnen Instrumente hat man verzichtet und es Melodiebezogen gehalten. Der Gesang von Ima ist Klasse, ihre Stimme hat eine Klangfarbe die man dem Mezzosopran zuordnen kann mit einem schönen Tembre.

Jedenfalls halte ich diese moderne Reise des Odysseus für recht gelungen und ich bin schon auf weitere Werke von La Tulipe Noire gespannt.

La Tulipe Noire are musicians from Greece and their musicstyle is Neo-Prog. Before Nostimon Hemar there has been allready 4 albums released by the Band. *Faded Leaves*, wich was their 3^rd release I liked very much, so naturaly I had to get their newest one too.

Nostimon Hemar is a conceptual album about the Adventures of Odysseus, but the Band has written the lyrics in a more modern way, like Live is today. They used high tech stoff like, TV and stoff like this, but also War like it is today. I’m not going to translate every single word wich I wrote in the german section, because it’s to hard for me to do. ;-) I’m also not going into every single song, because in the Booklet they have explaind every single step of this modern adventure perfectly. Just so much, that in every song there are fragments of the New Wave style, like you could hear by listening to Depeche Mode and I think it gives the music of them a special touch. The music is very melodic and Ima’s vocals are just perfect, she has a very nice deeper voice and a nice tembre in her voice. I hope you know what I mean. ;-)

Cast bestehen schon seit 1978 und wurden von Alfonso Vidales gegründet, außerdem sind Cast auch die Ausrichter des Baja Prog Festivals in Mexiko. Seit 1994 sind 20 CDs von ihnen erschienen. Während die ersten CDs in den 90zigern noch eher dem Neoprog zugeordnet werden konnte, entwickelte sich später ihr Musikstil zunehmend auch in andere Richtungen, wie z.B. auch Jazzrock und Retroprog.

Nun aber zur Doppel CD Mosaique, welche nicht total neue Songs beinhaltet, sondern Neue und verloren gegangene nicht Veröffentliche Tracks. Es sind also auch Songs dabei, welche es nicht geschafft hatten auf eins der zuvor erschienenen Alben zu kommen.Kurze und bescheidene Worte sollen euch nun einen kleinen Eindruck von einzelnen Songs vermitteln und hoffe der tollen Musik einigermaßen gerecht zu werden. ;-)

Azteca imperial fängt mit ethnischen Klängen an, dann setzt auch schon eine härtere E-Gitarre ein und die Melodie hat etwas von spannungsgeladener Filmmusik. Im weiteren Verlauf gesellen sich Flöte, Keys und Piano dazu. Im Mittelteil des Songs gibt’s auch einen Klarinettensolo, was rhythmisch ein bisschen dem Dixieland ähnelt. Enden tut dieser Track mit demselben Melodieaufbau wie er auch Anfing. Das ganze ist ziemlich Energiegeladen und doch sehr melodisch.

Signs of love, dieser Song erinnert ein wenig an frühe Genesis, jedoch nur Streckenweise. Ein sehr toller Rhythmus, welcher einem nicht mehr ruhig sitzen lässt und auch schöne mehrstimmige Gesangseinlagen, viel Flöte und Keys.

Suenos colectivos setzt mir rhythmischen Gitarren ein und hier ist dann sehr ausgeprägt die Flöte am Werk, bis dann weibliche Stimme zu hören ist, die dann auch recht bald vom männlichem Gesang abgelöst wird. Jedenfalls hat dieser Song etwas Besonderes.

Jupiter ist ein rein instrumental und fängt zu Anfang im Bereich des Easy-Listening an, der jedoch im Verlauf immer jazziger wird.

Zona de ilusiones kommt sehr klassisch rüber, mit Klaviersonate, jedoch schon nach wenigen Minuten schwängt das ganze um und man bekommt viele Solis von verschiedenen Instrumenten zu hören. Unvergleichliche Kombination und mit einem ganz besonderem Flair!

Ninos de cristal zu Anfang sehr ruhig mit schöner Pianobegleitung zum Gesang und wird dann nach ca. 2 min. recht rockig. In dem gleichem Muster ist auch Ninos de cristal II aufgebaut.

Adapted to your eyes Neo Prog , mir sagt dieser Song allerdings am wenigsten zu.

Nueva luz fängt sehr ruhig an, nur mit Piano, doch dann setzten bombastische keyboardtepiche ein, wie man es von Rick Wakeman kennt.

Auf diesen beiden CDs gibt es keinen Song der als schlecht zu bezeichnen ist, sie strotzen nur so von der Spielfreudigkeit der beteiligten Musiker. Meiner Meinung nach haben Cast genau soviel Anerkennung verdient, wie man es den Blumen Königen zukommen lässt!!!

Cast already excists since 1978 and where founded by Alfonso Vidales, also they are the hosts of the Baja Prog Festival in Mexico. Since 1994 they have 20 albums released. The CDs in the mid 90ties could be catagorized as Neo Prog, but later on they developed their musicstyle also twards other genres, like Jazzrock or Retro Prog.

The double CD Mosaique features New and previous Unreleased Tracks. So there are also some Tracks wich didn’t make it on the previous releases.

Azteca imperial starts with folksounds untill the E-guitars comes in. By the time you hear the flute the molodie sounds like in dramatic Movie. It is a very energetic and melodic instrumental song.

Signs of love reminds me a bit of early Genesis and has a great rhythm to it, you can’t sit still anymore, you have the urge to move to beat. Also the Vocalpart is plain marvellous.

Suenos colectivos on this song there is a nice female voice. The style of the music reminds me a little of The Flower Kings.

Jupiter is a instrumental song and start like easy listening music, very nice.

Zona de ilusiones starts of very classical, after a while the style changes and you’ll get to hear a lot solis of allkinds of instruments.

Okay I left some songs out, but there isn’t a bad song on this double CD and I wish Cast would get as much attension as The Flower Kings are getting!!!

Meine Persönliche Meinung / My own Opinion

Dieses Konzept Album "Christ O" ist inspiriert von Alexandre Dumas' Roman "Der Graf von Monte Christo". Allerdings muss ich zugeben, das ich den Roman nicht genug kenne (sollte ihn vielleicht mal lesen).

Die Musik von "Christ O" ist heavy, jedoch auch sehr melodisch und durch das Einbringen von Chorgesang bekommt die Musik auch einen symphonischen Charakter. Der Gesang von Andy Kuntz ist in den heavy, sowie in den softer Parts grandios. Die Solis von Stephan Lill sind auch fantastisch, ebenso die Keys, Bass und Drums.

Ich bin jetzt schon gespannt auf die Umsetzung von "Christ O" als Theaterstück, beziehungsweise Musical. Jedenfalls ist dieses Album das beste, was von Vanden Plas erschienen ist, bis jetzt!!!

This Album "Christ O" is inspired by the Book of Alexandre Dumas "The Count of Monte Christo". Allthough I have to admit that I have not read the Book yet (maybe I should....).

The music of "Christ O" is heavy, but also very melodic and since there are parts sung by choir the music also has a symphonic touch. The vocals of Andy Kuntz in the heavy and softer parts are great. The guitars of Stephan Lill are so divine and not to forget the keys, bass and drums, they are all good.

I'm quite curious how "Christ O" will turn out as a musical. Anyhow, I think "Christ O" is the best release of Vanden Plas so far!!!

Auf diesem Album dargebotene Musik lädt zum entspannen und träumen ein. Die Musik ist sehr ruhig gehalten, für meinen Geschmack fast schon zu ruhig und ich muss gestehen ein bisschen mehr Pep hätte ich mir schon gewünscht.

On this Album the Music is very calm and invites you to relax and dream. To my opinion the Music is a little to calm.

Die Musik ist gut und es macht Spaß sich dieses Album anzuhören. Auf diesem Album ist das Gitarrenspiel des Gary Chandlers im Vordergrund und die Keys vom Martin Orford im Hintergrund. Leider hat Martin Orford Jadis verlassen und dieses Album wird das letzte sein mit ihm. Schade, denn ich mochte Martin Orford's Keyboardspiel und nun darf man gespannt sein wie die kommenden Alben sein werden.

The Music is good and it's enjoyable to listen to it. On this album gary Chandler's guitarplay is more in front and the keys of Martin Orford are more in the back. To bad that Martin Orford has left Jadis after this album. It's a pitty, because I liked Martin Orford's keys and who knows what effect this will have now on Jadis music.

Mögt ihr Pink Floyd? ;-) Dann werdet ihr auch sicherlich dieses Album von Abarax mögen, denn sie haben sich total von Pink Floyd inspirieren lassen. Tolle Gitarrensounds und toller mehrstimmiger Gesang, mir liefen Gänsehautschauer beim anhören den Rücken herunter und hoffe es wird noch mehr Musik von ihnen kommen!

Do you like Pink Floyd? ;-) Then I'm sure you're going to like this album of Abarax, since their music is inspired by Pink Floyd's music. Great Guitarsounds and geat Vocals, when I listened to this CD there where shivers running down my spine and I hope there will be more music comming!

Hierbei handelt es sich um ein Konzeptalbum. Schöne Gitarren- und Keyboardpassagen, auch der Gesang ist sehr Ausdrucksvoll. Überwiegend sind die Songs im mittlerem Tempo gehalten, richtig rockig wird es eigentlich nie. Jedenfalls spreche ich für dieses Album eine Kaufempfehlung aus, denn Strangefish brauchen sich meiner Meinung nach nicht hinter anderen Neo Prog Bands zu verstecken.

This CD has a conceptional Story. You get to hear nice Guitar- and Keyboardsounds, also the Singers voice is full of expression. Mostley the Songs are in Midtempo and hardly are getting real heavy. Anyhow I think this album is highly recommended and deserve as much intension as other great Neo Prog Bands are getting.

Wunderschöne Keyboardteppiche (und nicht käsig :-) ), tolle Gitarrensolis, auch schöne Bassläufe und und und :-) bekommt man auf diesem Album geboten. Da ich mit meinen Worten dem schönen Album sicherlich nicht gerecht werde, lade ich euch ein klickt auf Info um auf deren Webseite ein paar Hörbeispiele runter zuladen, welche allerdings nur einen kleinen Vorgeschmack von deren Musik gibt und dann kauft euch das Album. Für mich sind M!NDGAMES jedenfalls GRANDIOS!!!

Very nice keyboardsounds, great guitarsolis, also great basstunes and and and :-) you get to hear on this Album. Since I'm not that good with words to discribe this nice music on it, I invite you to click on Info , wich leads you to the Site of the Band, to download some soundsamples wich should give you a vage idea of the sound of music the Band is playing and then buy the album. For me anyhow M!NGAMES are GREAT!!!

Ein wirklich schönes Album der Norweger, ähnlich wie Opeth - Damnation. Jedenfalls Empfehlenswert!

A really nice album from this norwegian Band, comperable to Opeth - Damnation. My recommandation for this one!
