Hallo Zusammen!

Ich höre gerade Apogee – On The Aftertaste und dachte mir, dies ist eine gute Gelegenheit um euch diesen Musiker vorzustellen. Richtig, ich habe Musiker geschrieben, da es sich bei Apogee um ein Ein-Mann Project handelt und zwar geht es hier um Arne Schäfer.

Arne Schäfer hat unter dem Namen Apogee bereits 3 Alben veröffentlicht und zwar: „The Border Of Awareness (1995), Sisyphus (1998), The Garden Of Delights (2003) und On The Aftertaste (2006)“.

In seiner Musik bedient sich Arne aus diversen Musikstilen, wie z.B. Klassik Progressive Rock, Heavy Rock, Jazz, Baroque und Renaisance Musik. 

Übrigens, Arne Schäfer komponiert, spielt die Gitarre und singt auch noch bei Versus X. Unter Apogee veröffentlicht er seine Kompositionen, welche bei Versus X keine Verwendung fanden und für diese Kompositionen einfach fallen zu lassen, es zu schade gewesen wäre.

Im Zuge meiner Recherche habe ich auch entdeckt, dass Arne Schäfer sich das Spielen diverser Instrumente selbst beigebracht hat und er nicht in der Lage ist nach Noten zu spielen, oder zu komponieren! Um seine Ideen aufzunehmen benutzte er Multitrack Recording.

Nun aber zu dem Silberling On the Aftertaste.

Die Songs auf diesem Werk wurden zwischen 1989 und 1995 aufgenommen und besteht größten Teils aus Songs welche es nicht geschafft haben auf den anderen beiden Alben übernommen zu werden.

Der 1. Track On The Aftertaste entstand 1995 und ist auch der längste Song dieser Scheibe. Zu entdecken gibt es einiges bei diesem Track, so dass es trotz der Länge nicht langweilig wird.

Possessed, How Could I Stop und Hibernation wurden 1991 aufgenommen. Von diesen dreien ist “How Could I Stop” der ruhigste Track.

Falling To Pieces und Don’t Take It Bad sind bereits 1989 Arnes “Feder” entstanden. Bei „Falling To Pieces“ holte sich Arne Hilfe von Bettina Boos an den Vocals und Stefan Maywald mit Orgel Solo.

Meine Lieben, On The Aftertaste ist sicherlich nicht als „Hammeralbum“, oder „Meisterwerk“ zu betrachten, dennoch ist es nett anzuhören und sicherlich wird dieser Silberling des Öfteren den Weg in meinen Player finden.

I’m listening to Apogee – On The Aftertaste and thought this mite be a good moment to introduce this musician to you. Yes, I wrote musician because Apogee is a one man project and it’s about Arne Schäfer.

Arne Schäfer released with this album his 4^th one. Before there where “The Border Of Awareness (1995)”,  “Sisyphus (1998)” and “The Garden Of Delights (2003).

In his music you will find different music styles like: classic progressive rock, heavy rock, jazz, baroque and renaissance music.

By the way, Arne Schäfer is also the composer, guitarplayer and vocalist in the Band Versus X.

Under Apogee he releases musical ideas which couldn’t be used with Versus X.

During my research I also found out that Arne is not able to compose and play after notes and learned to play these different instruments by him self. To capture his ideas he is using multitrack recording.

Now some information about the album On The Aftertaste.

These songs where recorded between 1989 and 1995 and includes songs that didn’t make it on the other two albums “The Border Of Awareness” and “Sisyphus”.

The first track On The Aftertaste was recorded in 1995 and is the longest track of this album. During the over 18 minutes playing time there is plenty to explorer so this peace of music won’t get boring at all.

Possessed, How Could I Stop and Hibernation where recorded in 1991. Out of these three songs “How Could I Stop” is the calmest tune.

Falling To Pieces and Don’t Take It Bad where recorded in 1989. By “Falling To Pieces” Arne invited Bettina Boos to sing along with him and Stefan Maywald to play extra organ solo.

My fellow music lovers, On The Aftertaste is certainly not the album of the year, but the music is nice to listen to and I’m sure that this album will find it’s way quite often in my player.
