Yleclipse stammen aus Cagliari – Italien, seit 1998 besteht die Band, welche sich allerdings bis dem Jahr 2000 Eclipse nannte. Unter ihrem jetzigen Namen sind nun schon 3 Alben erschienen, und zwar *Mercury And Sulfurus / 2000*, *Prime Substance / 2003* und nun ihr neuestes Werk *Opus*.
Die Musik ist stark von den frühen Marillion beeinflusst, lediglich die Instrumentalen Tracks Sailing To Caralis, mit Akustikgitarre und Streichereinsatz, im Aufbau schön ruhig und lädt zum Träumen ein, sowie Carol, dieser wird von Vogelgezwitscher eingeleitet, dazu gesellt sich die Akustikgitarre und im weiteren Verlauf des Songs setzt ein sehr schönes Soli von der E-Gitarre ein, beide Songs bilden hier eine Ausnahme mit ihrem folkloristischem Aufbau.
Bei den restlichen Tracks kann man sie allerdings nicht als Marillion Klon bezeichnen, da sie genügend eigene Ideen in ihren Songs verarbeiten. Deutlich wird dies z.B. bei folgenden Songs: Opus, bei dem sie im Mittelteil auch kurz leicht jazzige Töne anschlagen und In The Park, bei dem ebenfalls zu beginn und im mittleren Teil Ausflüge zu jazzigen Klängen zu hören sind.
Über die Klangqualität gibt es nichts zu meckern und dürfte Anhänger des Neo Prog’s, ganz besonders Marillion Fans der Fish Ära ansprechen!
Yleclipse are from Cagliari – Italy and they were founded in the year 1998, but till the year 2000 the Band Yleclipse was working under the Name Eclipse. Under the new Name there are already 3 albums released, called *Mercury and Sulferus (2000)*, *Prime Substance (2003)* and their newest output Opus.
The music of Yleclipse – Opus is very much influenced by the early Marillion with the exception of the two instrumental tracks Sailing To Caralis and Carol.
Sailing To Caralis starts with acoustic guitar to the sounds of strings and flutes and it’s a very calm song.
Carol starts with bird sounds and acoustic guitar; also you will hear flutes and a very nice electric guitar solo. To me it seems like the song is influenced by Mike Oldfield.
The rest of the tracks aren’t Marillion Klon either, because they used many ideas of their own, which is especially noticeable in the tracks Opus and In The Park. Both tracks have a slightly jazzy touch.
The sound quality on this album is very good and the album is highly recommendable to Fans of early Marillion, also Neo Prog lovers in general!
